Problem

The main problem with Baltfarma ‘s warehouse was that the spacewas not being used efficiently. The warehouse was furnished over time with shelves of varying heights, widths and depths. Such a warehouse needed to be made more systematic and use the storage space more efficiently. Also, ever-increasing volumes of goods mean that the best storage solution needs to be found for the available space.

Baltfarma’s products are stored in small packages and in various plastic boxes or blocks. This is why we needed shelving for small goods, but also storage space for bundling.

Solution

Although initially Baltfarma’s demand for shelving was small, it has now grown to a large volume. At the beginning, the solution was one type of shelf, but over the years the range of goods has changed. This is why we have moved to a smaller modular shelf. The modular shelving has been chosen with the idea that it can be fitted with a mezzanine, which provides even more storage space without the need for new rooms.

The old, special type of shelves were taken out of stock and new, uniform modular shelves were installed. Medicines were then moved. Although it was a big job, the result was good.

Hit

Now that people have been working with the new shelves for about two weeks, we can see that everyone’s working conditions have improved. It makes it easier for packers, loaders and receivers to handle goods. Goods are now closer together, routes are optimal and workers do not interfere with each other when picking.

Thanks to the new shelves, efficiency has increased, picking is faster and people make fewer mistakes. This is very important in pharmacy goods. Baltfarma has got a good solution!
