Problem
There were a number of challenges in the household paper warehouse. Firstly, the range of products was changing, so the demands on the warehouse were also changing. In addition to volatile goods, heavy vessels had to be stored. For a long time, such bases were simply kept on the floor, taking up a lot of space. Over time, the warehouse had been furnished with shelves of different sizes, and some of the shelf posts had been extended in ways that were neither sensible nor safe. All this made the warehousing system ineffective and a special solution had to be found for the warehouse.
Solution
As a solution, it was decided that the Kodupaper warehouse should have a drive-in system. A call for tenders was organised for the drive-in shelving system. During the procurement process, different companies visited the warehouse and measured the warehouse and based on the input received, quotations were made. The Baltic Warehouseman also made drawings, weight and load calculations and offered the best price. This was the start of the cooperation. There is now a well-established working relationship – after an enquiry, the premises are surveyed, options are discussed and a common understanding is reached.
Hit
The result was a warehouse area with a more efficient use of space, with optimum radii of movement for machinery. The delivery time of the whole project, including installation, was short.
As the occupancy rate of the warehouse is very high, the main argument for a good result is that more goods can be accommodated in the available space. The Baltic Shipbuilder did it well.
